What if what God is calling you to doesn’t make sense?

James 1:27 : “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

God certainly has a sense of humor.  About 7 years ago God shifted my heart from being resistant to foster or adoption to being open to it.  Amy and I decided we would explore becoming foster licensed.  Little did I know at the time this would not only lead to a new career path but also 3 new children being added to our home above and beyond our four biological children.  Yes, you just counted correctly….we have 7 kids.  Who has 7 kids these days?  That doesn’t make sense.  God’s economy often looks and feels very different than this world we exist in.  When God puts a call on your life you can resist it but eventually He finds a way to fulfill his purposes.  I have found it is easier to say YES than NO.  The way I relate to the Lord has changed as our family has gone through these adoption processes.  There is a whole new understanding I have about what it means to be adopted into the family of Christ.  There is something so powerful about choosing to open up your life and bring a child into your home.  There is something so powerful about understanding that God did the very same thing for us.  What is it that God may be calling you to?  What is it in your life you need to say YES to?  My prayer for you and me is that we continue to say YES to the things the Lord is calling us to ! Thank you Brothers and Sisters in Christ for standing together to serve Him.
