Dani Rojas, the young Mexican attackman with AFC Richmond, in the Apple TV show “Ted Lasso,” exclaims regularly, “Football is life!” His energy and enthusiasm for the game and life, as he enters the Premier League, is easily spread. In every situation, with his limited English, Dani responds, “Football is life!”
At C3 Leaders, we respond, with Dani’s enthusiasm. In everything we do — our C3 Forums, C3 Events, C3 Coaching, relationships and communications — we exclaim with exuberance, “Jesus is life!”
There are many components to the C3 Forum. The C3 Check-In focuses on “Faith, Family and Factory.” While it may be easy to tie Jesus to Faith, we also strongly align Jesus to our family and, yes, to our factory (work). When “Jesus is life,” He touches every aspect of who we are, what we do, every minute and every day of the week.
“Jesus is Life” is a prominent theme in the Gospel of John. John 1:4 says that “In Him (Jesus) was life, and the life was the Light of men.” The second half of John 10:10 quotes Jesus himself as saying, “‘I have come that they (that’s you) may have life, and have it abundantly.'” And, finally, the audacious, bold, one-of-a-kind claim by Jesus in John 14:6 that changes everything, “‘I am the way, the truth and the life…'”
Paul, in 2 Timothy, also writes about “the promise of the life in Christ Jesus.” In Colossians, Paul says that Christ is our life. And in Philippians 1:21, the well-known verse, “For to me, to live is Christ and to dies is gain.”
Our C3 Forums may not meet on a pitch, but we have the same kind of energy. It’s a team effort. There are wins and loss. We cry together and celebrate together. And at times, we may jump into each other’s arms and exclaim, like an AFC Richmond baller, that “Jesus is Life.”
The Brand Promise of a C3 Forum of “Jesus-Centered,” is more than a promise or marketing scheme. This is the first Brand Promise for a reason. It is central. It is a cornerstone upon which we build every bit of the C3 Forum. We suppose that other Brand Promises may fade with time, but this Brand Promise will be with us forever…as is Christ, because…
Jesus is life.
Questions for Journaling/Reflection
- Generally, where do you find joy? Cooking? Watching “our” football? Time with your kids or grandkids? Unpack joy. How do you experience it?
- Now, bring that same exuberance into your relationship with Jesus. How can you more actively experience the joy of knowing Christ?
- What does “Christ is Life” mean for your work? How is your vocational calling Jesus-centered? Simply from a time perspective, if we are spending a third of our day at work, it should involve Jesus.
- If “Christ is Life” are there places that need His presence, His touch? Where in your life do you need more of Jesus? How? When? Is it in relationships, your marriage, family, among colleagues? Where? Identify those places and then be intentional to involve Jesus in those relationships and instances.
