The C3 Leaders devotion is a peer weekly reflection from business leaders related to their journey with Christ. Each weekly devotion will be written by a different author from among the C3 Leaders community, 52 unique authors to be exact.
As we go through this next year together, we pray that these words and reflections will encourage you in your relationship with Jesus Christ.
By Frank Haas
Is God really leading you? Is His hand really on what you are doing?
For Frank Haas, the answers to these questions are best found while looking back on past seasons in life.
God’s hand in Frank’s life was possibly no more evident than while he was in the navy serving as a carrier pilot in the late 1950’s.
“We were peace keepers, and during my service, I learned more about certain parts of Russia and China than the people who lived there. We were part of a deterrent force, to convince the Soviets they shouldn’t do anything foolish. The things we did remained secret for 15 years.” Frank recalls. “We were trained to fly nuclear pay loads at low altitude. Later, my squadron mates and I would reflect on those training missions. We decided that if it had been a real combat situation, the 50 second blast escape window we had would have been cutting it close.”
“Part of these training missions involved flying a loft maneuver. It was on one of these such missions that I made a mistake: As I maneuvered my plane on to its back, I began spinning, and I was dangerously near the ground. I should have crashed. Looking back, it was clear God saved me for something.”
“After many years, when I finally relaxed in the Lord and looked back, I realized his hand had been on my life. Following Christ is about something special – it’s about a
life, and if you’re listening, God will direct you. Often times looking back you may see that direction with more clarity than at the time you are receiving that direction.”
Proverbs 16:9
The mind of man plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.
