God’s Word: Confidence and Power
Acts 14:24–28 (NASB)
“They passed through Pisidia and came into Pamphylia. When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia. From there they sailed to Antioch, from which they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had accomplished. When they had arrived and gathered the church together, they began to report all things that God had done with them and how He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles. And they spent a long time with the disciples.”
Paul and the disciples had tremendous confidence in the power of the Word of God. They spoke and left and the Word did the rest. “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. Hebrews 4:12–13 (NASB95). The Spirit of God works with the Word to transform lives. As God speaks to our hearts through His Word, He accomplishes salvation, transformation and perfection. Salvation from the power of sin; transformed in our soul into His likeness; and, the maturing and perfecting of our spirit for power over sin. Remember, we are now saints (not just saved sinners); His children; made into His likeness; temples of the Holy Spirit…
