Get Off the Bench and Into the Game

Jim Ray

41 of 52 Voices October 21, 2014

The C3 Leaders devotion is a peer weekly reflection from business leaders related to their journey with Christ. Each weekly devotion will be written by a different author from among the C3 Leaders community.

As we go through this next year together, we pray that these words and reflections will encourage you in your relationship with Jesus Christ.

Acts 20:4 “And he was accompanied…”

Paul was accompanied by seven men.  Can you imagine the Bible training that was going on in that small group?  Paul was equipping men for the work of the ministry.  I don’t say this lightly.  He was not equipping an elite group but a group of men who in turn would equip others.

Every person who is born from above should be a minister of the Word.  Paul was pouring his life into these men so that they would walk in the Word by the power of the Spirit.  Every one of us is a believer priest and/or king in His Kingdom and should see ourselves as ministers who steward the mysteries of God.  We need to start believing and behaving that way.

The purpose of equipping is to get us off the bench and get into the ‘game’.  The stakes are real…not just points on the board but real life and death.  The goal is to press into the Lord Jesus and allow His Kingdom to come and His will to be done in and through us here on earth just like it is in Heaven. Slick ad campaigns and wonderful programs do not win the lost.  The lost are truly born again when the Cross is lifted high and repentance from sin and faith towards God are the hallmarks of the Gospel and the lives of those sharing it.

May we be holy and wholly separated unto Him for His purposes in Him.
