The C3 Leaders devotion is a peer weekly reflection from business leaders related to their journey with Christ. Each weekly devotion will be written by a different author from among the C3 Leaders community, 52 unique authors to be exact.
As we go through this next year together, we pray that these words and reflections will encourage you in your relationship with Jesus Christ.

What if serving the Lord was something radically different than we often make it?
As I meet people from various backgrounds, success in life (and one’s “calling”) is almost always tied to the degree that one makes an impact or otherwise creates a name for oneself. It is easy for the indicators for success in our Christian journey to be indistinguishable from those in all other sectors of life, business and faith.
But what if finding success in serving the Lord looked radically different?
Instead of valuing the notability of our achievements or the comparison of our success to the success of others, what if the simple way we prepare our hearts in order to respond to what God is doing mattered most?
Part of the beauty of this is its secrecy. Preparing to act obediently to God is for the proverbial Audience of One. This fundamentally challenges the common values of our world: we have no face to save before God, no comparative achievement to our Lord, no amount of success to that of God’s creative demonstrations and abundant generosity. God is the ultimate success story, and with that in mind the best we can do is join in, finding justification as participants in His story instead of comparative glory in our own narrative.
So if serving amounts to waiting for that one command, “now lead and love as I have lead and loved”, if we are prepared to respond and act on this, have we not accomplished a great purpose? Have we not participated in God’s grand story and will we not rest fulfilled?
What are you doing in order to be prepared to respond to God’s direction in your life? Have the blockages to hearing and seeing what God is doing been cleared?
