I have a friend who years ago was in a sales position where compensation was tied to production. Some months his sales were not so great and he would get his check and look at it, and after contemplating it a bit he would look at me and say, “Well somethin’ of somethin’ is better than somethin’ of nothin’.” And I would laugh a little at the simplicity of the phrase.
But, how many of you know there is a spiritual proverb in what he said?
When it comes to your faith, did you know a little bit of something is better than a whole lot of potential? You can mentally say amen at this point.
God often takes a little bit of something and accomplishes great things.
Do you remember these bible stories from your reading?
-God allowed Samson to take a little jawbone of a donkey and slay 1000 Philistines.
-God compelled a little boy named David to take a little stone and conquer a taunting 10 foot tall Goliath who had created fear in an entire army. We need to remember that fear is the currency of Satan and faith is the currency of God.
-God had Moses stretch out his little staff and part the great Red Sea. He saved a nation and destroyed the strongest army on the earth.
-God had Jesus take a couple little fish and feed 5000 people with baskets of leftovers.
These are not just happy little stories. They are the reality of what God does when you take the little bit of faith you have and trust God in whatever your situation is.
My parting question today is: What do you think God can do with your “little bit of something”? I assure you it is more than nothing.
Business Principle: Master a little bit of something in order to be entrusted to steward greater amounts.
